Golden Rule: Loving Vincent Paints a Beautiful and Mysterious Portrait

Leading up to the 90th Academy Awards on March 4th, we’re diving into as many of the nominated films as possible to look at their chances for taking home the Oscar. Today we’re looking at Loving Vincent, which is nominated for Best Animated Feature.

Loving Vincent is a biopic on Vincent van Gogh focusing on the mysterious circumstances surrounding his death. It’s an intriguing mystery that leaves you knowing more about the artist while also yearning for more answers. The film is made entirely of oil paintings and is insanely gorgeous. There’s never been a film made in this way before. It’s revolutionary.

Loving Vincent should win this award. Loving Vincent needs to win this award. Pixar and Disney have Coco in the running and there’s a good chance it could steal the Oscar.

Pixar is a powerhouse in the industry. Coco is a great film. The Academy doesn’t always see all the nominated films and will vote for what they know. They know Pixar. If they didn’t see the film their kids may have and may have told them it’s a good film. There is honestly no telling which of these two films will take home this award. But it will be one of them.

In the end this race comes down to whether the Academy knows anything about Loving Vincent. If they do, it wins. If they don’t it loses to Coco.
