It may be a little late, but we couldn’t not celebrate the day that shall live in infamy!
Back in May of 2017, Universal Pictures announced that they were going to release a new franchise. The franchise was going to be kick-started with the Tom Cruise helmed The Mummy. And would feature things like Johnny Depp as the Invisible Man, Javier Bardem as Frankenstein, and Russel Crowe as Dr. Jekyll. But alas, none of it happened.
When Cruise’s The Mummy bombed at the box office. The elaborate plans for a monster movie franchise ended abruptly. And since then it’s been a long running joke among film lovers, that today, May 22nd, is Dark Universe Day. You can check out the announcement image and the “Dark Universe trailer” below.
